Middle School Science
In middle school the science faculty at Life Christian School works to set a strong foundation for advanced science classes taken in high school and beyond. At Life Christian School we also place a strong emphasis on inquiry based learning giving students many opportunities to participate in hands on laboratory activities. We also place a strong emphasis on technology working hard to integrate computer based data collection as often as possible.
General Science
This hands on science class is taught as part of the sixth grade curriculum. Students are introduced to basic experimental theory and experimentation. Labs include growing carrot tops and the effect of water and light. Students cover DNA and basic genetics all from a solid christian standpoint that supports creativity and questions. In the spring, students will work as a class to prepare and present a science fair project on a class topics.
Earth Science
| The class covers a wide range of topics including plate tectonics, the water cycle and rocks and minerals. Students get a hands on opportunity to explore and learn about rocks and minerals from a certified geologist with field experience. Part of the class is learning about the geologic time scale from not only a secular standpoint but from a strong christian point of view, preparing students for significant science discussions. In the spring, students prepare and present a Science Fair Project of their choice. |

Physical Science
Physical Science covers a large breadth of knowledge in preparation for the high school science classes. Students apply concepts in lab experiments while learning proper lab technique and presentation. Students will be introduce to using technology in the classroom and lab setting. Labs are done using Vernier Software and sensors to promote a greater understand of concepts. In the spring, students prepare and present a Science Fair Project of their choice. This project is done in conjugation with their English class.
